The 1st Lorette Cub Scout Pack

Do Your Best!

Badges in Cub Scouts are organized into 6 themed groups called stars. Each star represents a different group of activities that are related to each other.

The Lorette Cub Pack works on two of the six stars each year. That way, a Cub who goes through the entire three years of the program will earn all six stars and many of the badges associated with those stars. Cubs are not limited to these badges, however. Any Cub can work on other badges at home at any time, and is encouraged to do so.

Please take some time to review the Cub Book with your Cub and see what badges they can earn. Earning badges and receiving recognition for their work is part of the fun of being a Cub Scout!

Throughout the 2011 - 2012 season the Pack will be working on the Black Star (The Natural World) and Green Star (The Outdoors).

Many of the activities we have planned for the year tie into the stars and their associated badges.

New Uniform and Badge Placement

Scouts Canada has introduced a new uniform this year.  This has raised some questions about whether Cubs need to buy a new uniform, and where the badges go on the new uniform.  First of all, if your Cub already has a uniform that fits, he or she can keep wearing the same uniform.  With the old uniform, badges were collected on a sash, so cubs who have a sash can keep using it for collecting new badges.  On the new uniform, badges can be collected on the sleeve, or if the cub prefers, in a separate collector's binder or wall banner.

Scouts Canada has prepared an information page on badges and the new uniform that includes a Q&A section, badge and insignia placement illustrations, and lots of other helpful information.

Uniform and The Cub Book can be purchased at The Scout Shop, 395 Stafford St. at Lorette Ave., in Winnipeg.
