THE SOUTH ALBERTA REGIMENT
In Memory of my father
Some of you may be wondering why there is a page on a bird
site about the South Alberta Regiment (S.A.R.). This page is dedicated to my
late father, Captain R. E.
"Bobby" Crawford CD of Medicine Hat, Alberta, who served and
fought with the S.A.R. during the war. He joined the S.A.R. at age 17, went to
England with his Regiment and subsequently graduated from Sandhurst Military
Academy in England as an officer. He then re-joined his Regiment in Holland. On
February 28, 1945 he was captured and held as a P.O.W. After the war he served
in the Occupational Force, returned to Canada, left the army and then joined the
R.C.A.F. where he served as an Flt/Lt. until his retirement from the R.C.A.F. on
December 1, 1967. He then worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs.
This page is for him.
